The Boonville Fire Department Suppression Division is responsible for responding to emergency incidents. These incidents include but are not limited to; fires, emergency medical response, hazardous material response, rescue incidents and any other emergency that they are dispatched for in the City of Boonville, Boon Township or to provide mutual aid to a neighboring department or other government agency. 

The Suppression Division is manned by 4 firefighters per shift, working a 24 hour rotating  schedule and responding from 1 station. Additional off-duty firefighters are called back in to work as needed for large scale incidents.
 
Boonville Fire Department personnel are trained to operate all apparatus in the Department's fleet. These consist of, (2) Engines, one of which carries extrication equipment and other specialized equipment; (1) 75ft Quint, which can be used as an Engine or Aerial Device; (1) Medium Duty Rescue Squad; (2) Brush Trucks, used to extinguish brush/grass fires and transport equipment; (1) 6 wheel UTV, used to extinguish grass/brush fires and transport patients from remote areas; (1) Tanker with a 1600 gallon tank, used to transport and pump water to Engines in areas lacking fire hydrants; (1) 16ft dive/water rescue boat and (2) Chief Command Vehicles, used to respond to emergencies and serve as Incident Command. All Boonville Fire Department apparatus are equipped with adult and pediatric medical equipment and supplies to provide patient care at a Basic Life Support Level.

Boonville Fire Department also has many pieces of special equipment used for emergency response incidents, such as dive/water rescue equipment and hazardous materials response equipment and materials, among others.

All new  firefighters are required to be trained to the level of Firefighter 1 and 2, Hazardous Materials Operations level and Emergency Medical Technician. Other specialty courses are offered to firefighters throughout their career, if they are interested. Firefighters are required to complete a minimum of 240 hours per year of firefighting training, maintain all required EMS training and complete any scheduled specialty training throughout the year that is required by the department.
